What happens when we stop performing our lives for the feed - and simply sit with a single image?

In a world of endless scrolling and algorithmic memory, Photodump: The Table Edition offers a deliberate pause. This is not a performance you watch. It’s one you enter. You're invited to bring a photo that matters to you - something you've kept, carried, maybe even forgotten. It doesn't have to be dramatic or profound. It only needs to mean something to you. Over the course of a 30-40 minute one-on-one encounter, you and artist Meha Desai will sit with this image. You may talk about it. You may sit in silence. Either is enough.

At the end of the session, Meha will make a portrait - not of your photo, but of the moment between you. Sometimes it’s your face. Sometimes, just your hands. These portraits, alongside quiet records of the photographs themselves, form the beginnings of a growing archive, one that resists the fast, flattened choreography of social media.

This is the first iteration of Photodump. By participating, you become part of its foundation - a soft opening chapter in what will grow into a multi-city, evolving installation.

The performance runs from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM. There are eight slots available. One person per slot.

To participate, you’ll need:

  • A photograph (printed or reprinted, recent or old)
  • 40 minutes of your time
  • A willingness to be present with a stranger
