Featherheads Haokui
Featherheads Haokui are an incredible folk-rock band out of Ukhrul, Manipur.
Fronted by Augustine L. Shimray, their music pulls from old Tangkhul Naga oral chants, hao laa folk tunes, and the sound of the tingteila, then runs them straight through electric guitars and a full band setup. The songs are largely sung in Tangkhul, built on stories of mountain landscapes, village memory, and the strange distance that opens up between generations when the world starts moving fast.
They’re spending time locked inside Oddbird fine-tuning this material. The evening features a live preview of new music fresh off the floor, followed by an open room with the band to talk through what the lyrics mean, where these sounds come from, and how songs survive when they leave the hills.
Come for music and stories we seldom get to encounter.
